Just got back from Los Suenos. Fishing was less than expected, but awesome nonetheless. Three days of rain and a full moon definitely made it hard on us. Day one was dead flat and muy caliente. 1 30lb YFT and 1 250lb black marlin. Day two woke up to cloud cover and knew it would be better. Had 4 sails in the first hour but know takers. We moved up on big pod of porpoise and pulled in a nice 120lb YFT, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FISH. Took a small break and wham 350lb blue marlin! Had another huge blue come in on the teaser but just wouldn’t eat. Finally ended the day witha 30lb dorado which ended up being dinner. Reports from the marina were all bad, THANK GOD we outfished the entire fleet!! We fished on “The Bite” and the captain and crew were topnotch.
Saturdaty night ended the trip with a great show with Max Creek and Bill Kreutzman from the Grateful Dead in the jungle truly a great experience.
Chasing Tails the same thing happen to Smily and myself a couple of years ago. You read all these reports just a week or even a few days earlier of going 23 for 25 on Sails a few Marlin and all the Dorado and tuna and you get ther and catch just a few fish. I think those reports are B.S myself
Fishing is the chance to wash one’s soul with pure air.
I am in los suenos now and have been fishing here the last three weeks on the spanish fly. Manuel on the bite has been doing awsome i fish with him tomorw and cant wait. We have been doing the same marlin sails and dolphin no tuna yet but dragon fly gave us a big piece the other day. Your fishing the best boats with the mavricks.
I fished two days there in January of 2009 and caught nothing. Saw two free jumping sails and that was it. We had to weave out through miles and miles of longlines and the fishing blew like a ten dollar hooker with a mouth sore!
That area is way overfished.
If you want to catch fish in Costa it is best to go either extreme north or extreme south.
Stay away from Los Suenos and the middle of the country. Los Suenos boats are also priced for the tourists and are ridiculously overpriced.
im down in los suenos now. We are gonna fishing the tournament but nobody has a good feeling about it. fishing has been off for a few days and its only hit and miss on fish. went out today and caught 1 sail and had a small blue come into the spread to our flat line but just wouldnt eat. teased him up to the boat twice and pitched baits at him but no bueno!! just didnt want it. I will post more later as the tournament goes on if yall want?
freed-em. i saw a a bunch of small tuna down at the corner today. couldnt get hooked up though. but we didnt really try to hard. if we see them tomorrow im gonna try to drop a butterfly jig or somthin on em
dont wate time and money at Jaco and los senos go to Quopos it is less expensive and the fishing has been much better the girls are better looking and cheeper
No doubt the Mavericks are sweet rides. Fished out of Los Suenos a couple years ago and absolutely loved the place. The fishing is like fishing anywhere else you have your highs and lows but no matter the place is a Paradise. I always hear girls mentioned when someone post up Costa/Los Suenos. Man if you have to go to a 3rd world country to pick up hookers, dirty hookers at that, then you might want to check yourself.
