Fishing Piers

Loking to take my daughter fishing. Can anyone suggest a good pier where fish could be caught in the charleston area. I took her to Limehouse on the Stono and got skunked twice.
Also, Can you suggest the rigs to use and the right bait. Much appreaciated

Folly pier is a good one. Any beach pier is good but bring some money because you have to pay to go on them. Go by Haddrell’s Point and pick up frozen mullet, and shrimp. I don’t know if they sell shrimp, if they don’t you can pick up frozen ones at any grocery store. Everybody fusses about rigs but I don’t see how one rig can be better than the other. Just use a simple Carolina rig to keep it on the bottom. Bring weights up to about 6 oz in case the current is really strong. These piers are filled with sharks and many other fish. If you want you can also buy fiddler crabs to catch some sheepshead with.

BTW I know this is your first post but this shouldn’t be in the inshore reports, so you may get some crap from people. There is a surf/pier section, so that would be a better place to ask this question. Good luck.
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman

Thanks Ray good advice

Don’t forget Mount Pleasent pier. Still have to pay $5.00 for chaleston county res. .50 an hour to park. Has a play ground. Lots of fish. Fish with small hooks.Fish near pier. Also big fish!!!

thanks Jerry

Anyone know anything about the pier at Brittlebank Park?

Mr sammy…I think its perfectly fine for you to post here…you were just looking for help so posted where you thought it would be seen by people who fish… and most I think would or should understand that…so that being said…theres also a dock at the james island county park…dont know of you have a park permit…if not it doesnt cost much to get in…can even use green bax stamps if you are a piggly wiggly shopper…theres a guy who works with me who has fished brittlebank a few times…says he doesnt catch anything except stingrays…then theres colonial lake…think you can still fish it…and theres a saltwater pond across from Roper…have heard theres fish in it…and its free…theres a dock and little beach off of fort johnson road “sunrise park”…(down towards the DNR department) its next to james island yacht club…then theres crosbys dock going on to folly beach, they charge a very small fee 5.00 or less and sell bait and all there too… Another good place is to go tothe morris island end of folly beach…and walk to the old coast gaurd station and fish form the beach…should catch plenty of whiting , croakers etc from there…and easier than trying to pier fish…theres one at the landing by duncan marine on the ashley river too…well hope this helps…and hope you catch some fish…we’ll be looking forward to pictures and a report
