Fishing Report 01/11/15 - 01/12/15

Well, it’s the week before the MSC TX and so reports are scarce, but since none of this is going to matter due to the current weather conditions here’s the report …

We did real well in the Little Saluda on Sunday … We changed up our spread and so it took a little while to figure it all out … In the process we caught 11 Stripers ranging from 6 to 9 pounds and lost 5 while we were trying to figure out the new setup … We kept the fish alive in the live well culling them out as we went along and in the end released all but a couple to take home …

Fished Crystal yesterday and it was bad in the back of every cove/creek we went to … water was all muddy and several creeks were literally blocked up with floating debris … in many cases we saw whole sections of trees floating in the water … add to that the fact that fog was around all morning and it made for very treacherous conditions …

When we finally found a fishable spot we caught one 6.5 pounder but that was it … Moved to another spot and set out the spread and about 5 minutes into the pull it started thundering … After the 2nd round of thunder I checked the radar and it was already raining at the ramp we put in it … So we headed over to Dreher (getting completely soaked in the process) to wait out the squall lines …

So now we’re wet and it’s 44 degrees so we called it a day and went in …

So at the end of the day we have no usable intel and two more days of rain scheduled for this week … So in other words, it is exactly like every other TX we have prefished for … Great Day One - Sucky Day Two - and NOTHING usable for the next weekend …

Have a feeling we’re going to end up at the Gap fishing down rods for this one …

… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

If water temps drop up there consider going down lower where the water stays warmer. Balentine would be my guess. And what’s up with no pictures or videos. I need to fish vicariously so pictures help.

I did have the GoPro running on Sunday, but it takes awhile to edit through all of the video … the GoPro is still a little sketchy since it was attacked by the Barracuda over the summer, but it is still somewhat usable … I look at the footage when we’re done to see what we could have done differently and/or missed … it’s amazing how much you miss while in the moment … That all being said, I don’t post a lot of video right before the TX’s … But it’s not a military secret where we fish so when I’m done I’ll post one for you …

As for the pictures - sorry, didn’t get any this go round … I should have taken some of all the debris in the water - it was crazy and as we get more rain all of that will start pushing down into the main lake areas … Need to be careful running around out there in the early morning hours before the sun comes up
