Fishing Report 6/22, 6/24, 6/26

Hi everyone,

We just got back from vacationing at Edisto beach. Took my son and father in law out late on the 22nd to the Edisto 40. We trolled some clark spoons and caught 7 spanish mackeral in a little over an hour. We also had 3 more come in with just heads and something nailed them while they were winding them in. I also had 4 rigs cut off. I was using 30 lb fluorcarbon for a leader, moved it up to 50 lb for the next trip.

Wed, 6/24 took my son and our preacher out intending to goto ledge. We netted a live well full of menhaden on the way out. Stopped at the Edisto Offshore Reef, put out a couple lines with live baits as we set out the outriggers and prepared to goto deeper water. We had a king and a barracuda on before we could get the riggers out. Turned out to be a fun day. Actually had a school of amberjack come up and surround the boat. We tossed em a few menhaden and landed 3 in the 30 to 40 pound class. Ended up with 3 Kings 15 to 18 lbs. Then went to the Edisto 60 and picked up another king. Late in the afternoon fished the Edisto 40 again and picked up 6 more spanish. Did not lose any lures with the 50 lb leaders.

Went out Friday 6/26 to the Edisto 40 in rough water with a gentleman from Atlanta who had not fished saltwater before. Put the live baits out and he fought and landed a 50 lb barracuda on the 20 lb king rig. He fought it for approximately 30 minutes and had a thrill. Only one other hit all morning and we called it a day at lunch time. I was happy to be back at shore!

We will be back in dry stack this week at Shem Creek.

Good luck everyone.

from the sounds of it y’all had a blast in the boat. I will be in touch about the club for the next meeting.
