Fishing Report 9/10 - 9/11

9/10

Got on the water around 6:00 - 6:30 and started pulling U-Rigs at the mouth of Rocky Creek and around to the mouth of Beaverdam …

We picked up 6 fish between 19 - 23" running the rigs between 20 - 25’ in 30 - 60’ of water … Water temps were around 82 degrees …

There were a bunch of boats (looks like SteelyTom was one of them … LOL) down in Beaverdam that looked to be working topwater … by the time we got over there the topwater had subsided and the boats had dispersed …

9/11

We fished the same area, but this time we only went after the schooling fish … Water temps were higher running around 84 degrees …

Lots of little fish and a few keepers … 12 fish in the couple of hours we were out there …

At first we (Liz, RJ & I in our boat and Chip & EJ in EJ’s boat) had the area to ourselves and we chased after one school while Chip & EJ chased another until the two school converged together …

By that time 3-4 other boats also working the area, but all these boats were respectful of the school and so there was fun had by all …

We didn’t keep any since we had fish already from Wednesday evening …

Liz was throwing a pencil popper and RJ was throwing a Rattletrap until I changed him out with a bucktail … I was throwing a Sebile Swimmer, but I wasn’t getting as much attention as I’d like and so I switched over to a bucktail which seemed to get the attention of all the little ones … All the keepers were caught on Liz’s pencil popper …

All in all it was good cheap fun … but can’t lie … can not wait until the bigger fish start to join in the schooling action …

Tight Lines …

… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

Great to hear about some schooling action! Thanks for the report. Can’t wait to get back out this weekend to get some lines wet! Sounds like the fish have moved up the lake a bit. Are they biting above bomb island or still down around spence?

You were there first - just respecting your space … Next time I’ll just let Liz keep taking fish from you …

I’ve heard reports that Spence is still active for down rods and trolling and that there is starting to be some schooling in and around Beard’s Creek and Camping Creek … I keep meaning to check out Bear and Hollow but just haven’t gotten around to it yet

Rick,

It was good to talk to you last night. Glad y’all got on them!

Joe at Eptings Landing told me on the cloudy days we just had (Tue & Wed) stripers were schooling around Putnam’s and stayed up a long time with the cloud cover.

On our way out of Beard’s Creek last night - passed three boats that looked like they were working schooling fish. Noticed several schools of shad finning the surface. Beard’s smells real “fishy” the last few days - I think the shad are spawning.

See there … Couldn’t hardly hear you over the big motor - not that it’s all that loud, just have auditory processing disorder which is just a fancy way of saying that background noises disrupt my ability to separate sounds - I could “hear” you, but I really couldn’t understand what you were saying … LOL …

Couple that with the fact that I’m half blind and it’s a wonder I catch any fish at all …
