Fishing Report

I’ve seen a few fishing reports recently and wanted to join in the sharing of information to potentially help those that have not had time to make it out on the water recently. I fished Saturday with my youngest son, Jacob. We moved around a good bit during the day but basically targeted shallow water(2’-7’) on the Little Saluda side. The bite was slower than what we have seen recently but we had a good day of fish and bait catching. The fish did not seem to prefer a certain bait size and our two biggest fish(~25" and ~27") came from a small cove off the main channel. Not sure if that means anything or not. We did not catch more than three keepers in any one location. We ended the day with 8 or 9 keepers.

I took oldest son Tommy out Sunday along with Sully(Daniel Sullivan). We again fished the Little Saluda side in a few of the same spots and a few different ones. We fished a little deeper Sunday. As deep as 20’ or so but also venturing to shallow water. The bite was about the same. We missed a ton of fish for some reason though. Ended the day with around 10 keepers with one 10 pounder and another just shy of 9. These two bigger fish came in around 10 feet of water on a transom bait and a planer board. We also caught fish in 3’ of water and 15’-20’ of water. I guess they are spread out from the channels all the way to the banks. Not sure that really helps anyone since that just about covers the entire river but that’s the report anyway.

Good luck this weekend!

I fished today from 1:15 until 5:15. With a total of 6 keepers, my fish came in 2-13 feet of water all on planers. I too was missing alot of bites. They would knock a hole in the water behind the planer and sometimes just not get the bait at all. Other times the bait would be double-hooked. Still other times they would come unbuttoned after stripping several yards. Oh well! Still a fun afternoon. All fish I encountered are still swimming.

21-25 inchers seem tiny after what we were getting on Cherokee, but I will take em:sunglasses:

Great report guys.

Thanks for the reports!
