Would anybody happen to know some good shoals and near shore reefs/wrecks to kayak fish from. I have fished to Grillage off Sullivans Island numerous times and i would like to be able to catch various types of fish. I love fishing the flats for redfish, flounder, and sea trout but sometimes you just want to try something different. Im not asking anybody to give up secret spots but i would like to fish some open water from time to time. I have read there are concrete reef balls about 50 yards from the folly beach pier…has anybody fished this area from their kayak? If so what type of fish did/can you catch there. Anybody planning on going out to some of these areas and would like some company let me know i would love to go.

Wow, that is an awesome post! Keep us posted and let us know if you go out and how you do. I kayak fish but all inshore. I don’t know anything about off/nearshore fishing.
Nice reply…i would love to go out there and try to find some nice fish like that…ive caught bull reds at the grillage in charleston and jetties at murrells inlet so swells are no problem you get use to the ride

Kings are warm weather fishing. Bull reds in the spring and fall.

Man, I caught a 31" red a few weeks ago in my yak. I can’t imagine what a bull red or a big king would be like.
Big reds are a hoot, so are blacktips and bonnetheads. Best one this year for me was a 38" pig.
