I can’t recall who makes the fishing tennis style shoe I saw last year? Seems like they were pricey but looked comfortable and supposed to breath well and dry quick I think.
What about any comfortable flip flop recommendations? I bought a pair of Sperry flip flops last summer. I liked them but they went flat, no support, in just a few months. BUT one thing I did notice was whatever they are made of was odor resistant. I never noticed any bad odor which is unusual for my shoes/sandals/etc.
I’ve got those and I like them for fishing. not too hot and will stay on the feet if I’m in the water. I especially like them in the kayak and riding in choppy water. They provide enough cushion and dry quickly if they get wet.
I got some I really like from Lands End,they are river shoes. Cool thing about Lands End, if they don’t fit or you just don’t like them, you can return them to any Sears.
Crocs Classic…cushy, non skid and they have a heel strap to keep them on your feet…plus they are only $30 or less from the website. I usually buy 3 pairs at a time…they don’t last long wearing them around town.
Best shoes I have ever worn for fishing/boating. When I worked at the Marina they were a necessity. I could walk in to the water and they’d be dry in less than an hour later. Salomon came out with a new style of them, so i’m not sure if these are out dated.
They will begin to smell horrible though. I just typically take the inserts out every once in awhile and liberally apply anti-monkey butt or something before wearing them

Old school Docksiders for me, btw imo Flip Flops are very dangerous when fishing and I cringe and personally badger my guest on the dangers of prancing around a fishin bote with them on.
Nothing like cutting a trip short and headed to the ER with a cut up Diva, stay away from them while fishin.
Rap,
I have the same shoe in man made material I bought at REI a year ago for $46 on sale-great kayak shoe.
BTW, if you have smelly shoes or feet, I will give you your life back.
Go to your grocery store and buy Ammen’s Medicated Powder in the foot or baby powder aisle. Sprinkle in shoes and the odor will disappear after a few days. Unbelievable-26 years with no odor, embarressment, also works as a regular deoderant.
Tell your friends and family, it really works.
Man Bill D, I am going to have to try that Ammens. My son has a pair of cleats that smell so bad we thought a cat peed in them. We won’t even let him put them inside the car they are so bad.
My brother-in-law whom manages a shoe dept for a Belks store in Atlanta gave me this shoe last year:
I thought he was nuts and thought the shoe was fugly and threw them to the back of the closet. I finally dragged them out after the soles of my croc’s got so thin that I’d slip on the boat deck.
Turns out, it’s the best boat shoe evar. It’s cool in the summer, you can throw it in the washing machine when they get nasty. In the winter, with a nice pair of wool or hiking socks, they keep your feet warm and able to dry quickly.
And they don’t scuff the deck. If you can find 'em on sale - get you some. You won’t hate 'em.
I cant manage to jump around and maintain 10 rods when trolling with shoes on at all.It is very dangerous I know, but Im 6’ 4’ and am not a nimble fellow. So when Im working the cockpit I have to go caveman. Otherwise crocs or shrimping boots at the dock.
Can you picture running up and down pipes and around customers or fellow fisherman that lack know how in a feeding frenzy with shrimping boots on.
Not to mention the awful smell that comes with wearing most shoes with no socks covered in squid and blood.
First time a large dolphin hits the deck and smashes its head down on a flip floped/croced foot, you will never wear them offshore again, more or less what a wild hoo can do to unprotected feet on the deck! Full shoes only like the one pictured above. I got to the point of carrying a few extra sets of old tennis shoes for folks that showed up in flip flops, no shoes, no fishing! Too much involved with going offshore allready to worry about someone with a broken or lacerated foot that could have been avoided by just wearing shoes. Tennis shoes stink to hi heaven after being wet and covered in fish blood and slime but I just allways rinse them out good at end of day and leave em to dry out and just use em for fishing. I used to fish offshore barefoot a lot, until I learned the hard way with a few broken bones in my foot from a angry bull dolphin!

Sperry Fugawii are my favorite. Their flops are great but discontinued last year the 13’s I wear. So…I switched to their sailing shoes still great sole. Best thing about the Fugawii is their light but also regardless of what you have spilled (Fish slime, blood and guts, or beer) I’ve never lost my footing. I’m too big of a guy to be sliding around the cockpit.
Also big fan of the Sperry GRID sole. I’m 350+ and it saves my back and also helps with the Plantars Faciatis.
Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
Just got a flier from west marine and the sperry’s pictured above are 50% off! Anyone interested in those should go check them out. I am going to look at them tomorrow.
Don’t have a knack for makin motors crank,
But I’m pretty good at drinkin beer
The best way to a fisherman’s heart is through his fly.
Two years ago I had a teenager king flop up and the business end hit the top of my foot. I was wearing flipflops. I still wear flip flops but stay away from the business end of anything toothy!
