When donnie and I first got married…yeah…they had boats back then:smiley:…we fished a lot out of Cherry point in rockville…proweled the many creeks and drains as well as fishing the inlets and beaches for shark, its where we spent a lot of time teaching our boys to fish too…had a blast there…sandwichs, colas, a thermous of coffee and a bucket of minnows and some frozen shrimp…but after a while we stopped making the longer drive and fished closer to home . It has been a few years since we fished there…so we decided to make a trip down memory lane and so went yesterday.
We were on the water early…was really cool in the morning and i was glad i had brought a long sleeve shirt… but quickly warmed up and got breezy as they day went on. As soon as tide dropped found shrimp in many of the creeks as well as finger mullet…so bait was not a problem. Caught two stingrays in two of my casts for shrimp:dizzy_face:…and a small flounder…and later caught another flounder on my line. The nice thing about low tide is it gives you time to see changes in the creeks and shoreline…and there have been many since we last fished there…but fortunately for us the fish were still hanging out where we had caught some before:smiley: We caught plenty of small trout and reds…nothing humongous…but fun to catch.Donnie caught a big red…all fish were released. Caught a flounder, couple small grouper …yep…, a whiting and a lot of little (what we call)silver perch, spot, and pinfish. Most caught on live bait on both the bottom and under cork…but some on electric chickens and assasin curly tail “opening night” grubs. Pulled out of the water at 6pm…stopped at the gas station and got a sausage dog and a coke on the way home…just like old times:smiley:…and came home tired wind burnt…but happy.
Saw a lot of shrimp boats that brought back memories of growing up…a bald eagle,2 hawks,a buzzard…that donnie said was looking for me…and a lot of dolphin …which drove Roo crazy. She always thinks they are the one in the village that
