Fishing Spot

Got a new Mad River Canoe from my girlfriend for Christmas. Haven’t used it yet because I’m mounting a trolling motor and rod holders. More to the point I want to use it this spring and I’m looking for a place to go to fish. I live in Charlotte and usually drive down for the day. I usually hit the back side of Folly or over by the lighthouse. Good for trout in the hole in front of the sand bar. I didn’t know if anyone had somewhere to recommend?

Easy to drive to, drop in, with the least amount of paddling to get to. Boat ramps are usually the easiest to get to but are often crowded or the water is ruff. Used to go down past the pig on Folly road before the pig was there. BTW GREAT crabbing from a kayak down there.

Do you really drive >3hrs, canoe to Lighthouse and back (about 9 miles round trip if launching from Folly R. ramp)and then drive >3 hours back? That’s dedication so I’d like to help out!

I kayak & fish the area of Lighthouse Creek, Folly River, Folly Creek, and lower Stono (near Kiawah and Inlet). I hardly ever run into other yak or canoe fisherman down that way.

I too live in Charlotte and go down most weekends but for 2-4 days at a time. As Spring approaches, e-mail me and I’ll help out as best I can.

This site will have lots of suggestions for the other (north and east) sides of the harbor as well.
