Got a little late start this morning but still what donnie considered early…@0700.
This was Roo making sure she kept a eye on us so she wouldnt be left behind
First thing we ran into was this…
not only did it make us even later for fishing…but I had to sit there and be reminded again…and again…and again as the riders passed…that I should be riding my bike more too.
Got to the ramp and was surprised that there were only a handful of cars there. Did see where someone left their outriggers on the dock…bummer if they were going offshore to fish…and sure hope they got them back. Hard call there…take them for safety and post that you have them… but then they may come back for them and they are gone…I did tie them to a cleat to make it a little tougher to move/fall off of dock…and we went back by at 7pm to see if they were still there…and they were gone. hope the owners got them
Stopped along a mudd flat and six casts of my net had us two minnow buckets full of shrimp even after I culled through them and a dozen plus finger mullet. Also caught a trout in one of the cast…he was let go. Was strang he had spots only on the back half…told daddy about it and he said it was so fast it swam out of its spots:face_with_head_bandage: shrimp seem to be getting bigger quickly. see a big difference every week it seems
also caught a small stingray in one… and have to sew a hole up in the bait net tommorow:frowning_face:
saw something floating in the middle of the creek as
Good post. The one that got away, huh! Those are always memorable. I’ve seen the a mother dolphin with her lost young before. Sad but amazing. Ours actually THWACKED her tail hard on the water surface to try to scare us away.
Strange, the first and only time I have ever seen a mother dolphin doing that was a couple of years ago in the same place - on that first curve of Folly Creek before Bowens. We thought a dolphin was playing with something in the water and then complete silence as we got closer and saw what was going on. Looking forward to saying hello to you, Donnie, and Roo when our paths/boats cross in the Folly area!
HF… They have fished form them and the one gentleman said he had a quite a scary “sleigh ride” once. Real nice fellas!
Downlow…we saw another one same exact place aout this time of hear a few years ago to. It is strange. Perhaps there is a secret burial ground up past crosbys seafood…
Thanks for your excellent (as always) post. The pictures and comments on the mother dolphin trying to revive the deceased child brought tears to my eyes.
