Fishing the beaches

I was wondering if anyone has ever fished for spanish mackerel just btb and had any luck. I have caught a few from the folly pier before but have been interested in trying it from the yak. I have been fishing out of my kayak for about a year now, mostly in the icw. I’m interested in any info or recommendations you guys may have.

I have been wanting to take my kayak on the beach for sharks etc… I went once for spanish but got flipped over by a wave.

Have caught a few spanish offshore. Have tried trolling but just can’t get enough speed in the kayak.

Remeber taking the kayak out in the mid 80’s at Folly Beach and surfing the waves. With a fishing kayak would recomend swiming the yak back into shore. With a load of gear it’s easy to lose it in the surf. Only take a couple rods and not a lot of gear.

I am planning to do a little spanish and king fishing this year from the kayak…

s1tpilot - I flipped my Outback in the surf during a landing attempt last year off Sullivans Island. I need to practice my launches and landings!

Yea I plan on taking my kayak out to the beach and practicing my surf launches and reentry. I may set my camera up on the shore and get some pics. Hopefully I will be on the kayak in every pic instead of swimming to catch it.lol.
Elgeebee- I would be interested in joining you when you decide to go. I figure it would be a good/wise idea to have another person out there.

When coming back in , practice coming in thru the surf backwards, it must easier with our type of hulls
