Anybody ever fish the goose creek reservoir out of a canoe or kayak? I have never been up there but hava always wanted to try it. I was kind of wanting to find a close place to throw in the canoe to take my little girl fishing. Since I cant ever seem to catch any good fish in the salt, I thought I might give some fresh water a try.
I do have a buddy that told me he would never fish up there out of a canoe because of the gators. Are they really that bad up there that I would need to worry about them?
this time of year you wont see many. You might see some sunning in the afternoon with the weather we’re forecasted for this week, but they will still be moving slow.
I wouldn’t worry about them too much, just don’t corner them.

Fished there many times out of a SOT kayak and canoe. There are lots of gators, but never caused me any problems. If you get close to them, they just swim the other way. That being said, I would never get out on the banks unless I was at the landing. Fishing is good there for bass and crappie. Good luck!
