fishing the stono

Ive been fishing the stono for a few months now since i finally got a boat! Since I am in a john boat I do not have that far of a range. Ive been fishing a few creeks around the limehouse but havent been able to find anyhting cooler worthy. A few under slot reds trout and some keeper flounder but threw back to catch anther day. Does anyone have any tips to find slot fish in the stono. The limehouse is near my house so thats the easiest landing to put in at. Not looking to steal anyones spots or anything just looking for any tips or anything that may be able to help me. Maybe i should head closer to the mouth of the river like heading towards folly? just looking for some help thanks!

head towards marker 55 and hit the docks along the right side of the Stono. Good luck!!

I have lived on John’s Island and fished the Stono for 50 years. These days, I mostly avoid it and go elsewhere due to the intra coastal snow bird traffic. Hard to fish. Find a good creek, scout it at all levels of the tide and fish ditch mouths, structure and oyster rakes.

I live right near the Limehouse as well and have a little Jon boat/skiff. Some of the docks almost directly under bridge hold some good flounder and bigger reds. Lookout for creek mouths with oyster beds, those are pretty productive. Good luck!!
