Fishing this week

Hello all I’m new to this forum and need some help , thinking about going to the ledge off Edisto this Wednesday what should i look for and expect to find planning on trolling for wahoo and was wondering what the chance of dolphin and bills

Gg

Dolphin, most likely not. The dolphin run is usually between late April and late July. Bills, got a shot, especially sails. But you never know what you’ll find out there.

Schoolie dolphin are still around. We saw a bunch this past thursday. Didn’t put much effort into catching them. Still ended up with one on a chicken rig that was asking to be put in the box.

Ok so what is a chicken rig?

Took my 20’ KW out into blue water for the first time Tuesday. 30 miles out. Trolled ballyhoo and a jig. 10 misses and bite offs in about 3 hours. Landed 2 AJs , both 50", 1 cuda 22 lbs. , landed the head and a small amount of belly from a decent sized bonito after a shark attacked it:smiley:. Came back in and landed two sharks. 7’1" female Sandbar ( released), and a 6’ Blacktip ( released). Was pleased with the gas consumption after never having ventured that far out. Still a rookie rigging those ballyhoo, though. They looked like crap and swam as bad. Did have lots of them cut in half, though, so there must have been some desperate fish there:sunglasses:.

Slow day for us as well…left late and fished 450-700 ft of water. Had a blue one eat the short rigger around 1145 and pulled the hook. Had another fish look at the long rigger but don’t know what it was. Beautiful water that afternoon. Passed lots and lots of bait in 100-130 feet of water.
