Fishing this weekend

With the tropical storm moving past this weekend is it even worth trying to do some fishing or do you think that the storm will mess everything up for a bit?

Giving it a shot, and catching nothing, is far better than the dreadful alternative of not fishing at all.

Ya’ll just need to stay home…it will not be any good this weekend.

I might try the ashley tomorrow. Haven’t tried that river since I moved down here.

I had Thursday Friday and Monday off with the plan being fishing hard. Cancelled Friday and Monday due to 18 mph winds. Taking today off and trying new places. Still going to be 10 mph or is it knots or nots; Iainowe, but I’ll also be fishing jigs and carolina rigs if it’s really windy.
Good Luck!

“Junk always sounds best.”

Good luck, fished yesterday, started to get choppy around 11 or 12ish as the tide was about half way into the rise

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

NOAA has a small craft already in effect and contunuing through the weekend. I was planning on going, but may fish a friend’s dock instead. 20 mph winds can make it tough and more than a little dangerous. With 6.5 tides and the wind pushing more water in, it will make conditions tough. I had an uncle with 30+ years on the water go out on a similar day and didn’t come back. They found his body abut 4 weeks later floating next to someone’s dock.
Will wait and hope if the forcast changes. Be careful.

Supposed to be taking some people tomorrow. Looks like I will have to concentrate on sheeps way up in the creeks.

Go if it is safe. Best day EVER with tropical system stalled just south of Charleston. We caught fish until we did not want to catch another. Paid for it big time. Got back to Greenville and storm had flooded basement(12 inches of rain.

sure, go right ahead:

I have been trying to hit the Folly surf lately since this is the best time of year for big redfish. Yesterday I caught my personal best redfish on cut pinfish- 37" long. Tropical Storm Sandy looks like she will screw up any surf action this coming weekend.

Yep, swellinfofolly.com sez 6 to 10 foot waves on Saturday.

Went on the ashley today by myself for the first time. Had some frozen shrimp and mullet. Couldnt get anything to bite. decided I’d try to get the boat in position and throw the cast net a bit. Managed to get a few small shrimp and finger mullet. Pretty tough trying to drive the boat and throw a cast net. only had about 1/2 dozen shrimp and ended up feeding them to the fish without being able to get one hooked. Next tried the finger mullet. Managed to haul in a 25" red and had another one playing with the bait on the other rod but couldnt get it to take it. decent weather and a nice day for a quick fishing trip.

i remember catching a couple nice reds the day after irene last year…long as its safe go for it!
