Fishing tomorrow - is it too late for planers?

I have received a last minute reprieve and get to go fishing tomorrow. Was wondering if I should start with planer boards or if it is too late and the fish have moved deeper. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks.

I haven’t had planers out since the 1st week of April. It’s been cutbait and downrods since then for me. I suppose planers could work in the shallows in the wee hours of the morning; so I wouldn’t be completely surprised to see some success with them.

I fished PB’s and DR’s on Tuesday evening before Memorial Day in 45’ of water near Spence. BB split shot above the swivel. Caught eight keepers and four shorts in two hours - 10 on the PB’s, 2 on down rods.

Good luck tomorrow!

We’re still pulling planers … Still catching fish … Although I plan on putting on 2oz weights (with the planers similar to the split shot methods) for the next couple of weeks until they all transition back down … After that it’s pretty much down rods, cut bait, and/or trolling for the rest of the summer …

… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

Correction… We did catch our fish in the April tx on planers. That was the 3rd week . Since then, it’s been cut and down.
