Fishing Tournament Supporting Conservation

Hi guys. I wanted to bring to your attention an upcoming tournament by Toadfish. I’ve been working on it with them because all the money raised will be split between the Toadfish Conservation Coalition (Oyster Restoration) and Release Over 20". If you’ve ever attended a Toadfish event you know they do things first class! The tournament is 100% catch and release using the Fishing Chaos app, and runs a week long from Sept 7 to Sept 13, followed by an epic party at Bohemian Bull on Sept 14. You can fish any time during that window and any where in public waters in SC. The big-3 (Redfish, Trout, Flounder) are included as well as…Toadfish! Plenty of categories to win, and giant prizes also. You get an awesome captains bag shipped to you when you sign up including jigs from Eye Strike, plastics from Z-Man, stuff from Toadfish and RO20 and a ruler to use during the tournament.

In order to support a push to not target bull reds during their spawn, only redfish 30" and under are eligible.

Let’s have some fun and support conservation!

Thanks Optiker
I really like the part about not killing the female spotail that carry all the eggs
Now if only everyone would get onboard with not killing the big mama flounder
DNR needs to change the size limit!
Tell us again about how all the flounder over 14 inches are females
I’m fine with frying some twelve inch males and letting the girls go to make eggs

@Optiker In! Looks like a great time, great format and great causes. Predicting @fatrat357 gets a podium for the flounder category.

During the legislative sessions when the last flounder bill was passed, there was a bill to add a 20" upper slot for flounder that passed the House. Unfortunately, the Senate overrode it. We are not lobbyists or a political organization. If we all just voluntarily release the bigger flounder, we won’t need legislation, will we? We’re seeing more and more anglers and guides embrace and normalize releasing big flounder, and we hope that trend grows.

Heck yeah Stump! Who else is on board??

I went out in the rain today and caught a red that would probably have won the Toadfish Tournament if it was on right now  It was a 30" line painter!

I’m checking my schedule! Might be a good opportunity to visit my sister in Charleston while I’m at it. I love Toadfish, their rods and products, and everything they are about. I’d love to fish the tournament if I can!

I’m in! Can’t wait!

Nice swag bag @Optiker!

What’s the pink thingy?

30” ruler xxxx

I agree with you Optiker on releasing over 20 and I release regardless if a family member don’t request a red or flounder. Now that eye know better I try my best to do better. I’ve always acknowledged this site for knowledge and understanding. I’m just out fishing and looking for the big ones too post and release. I have offshore species that I engulf from time and enjoy. Inshore keeps me occupied when not doing house work, gardening, arguing with my neighbors about nothing and enjoying retirement. Life’s good
