planning a trip there in late june. Will stripers be turned off by then? Would like to get into some of those if anyone could give me some info.Planning a fishing trip with my 13 yr. old daughter .Gonna make a week of it,pier, surf, inshore and possibly offshore. in other words EAT-SLEEP-FISH.[:)Any tips or suggestions will greatly be appreciated. I really want this to be a special trip for her. Stripers mostly in lake murray?
That should be a good time to catch them on Murray. Fish will all be concentrated on the lower end and in deeper water. I catch the most and biggest fish in June. You may also want to do a cannoe trip on the Saluda River, should be good striper fishing there too. But you will have to release them.
new to forum…vacationing in murrells inlet area…hope to sample several types of fishing. wasn’t really sure about the stripers or their location. We fish for them here…thought we might try them there…can u recommend anyone to guide?
saw the thread for stripers…got excited…lol
planning our trip last of june…week of fishing
dbltrkr, your profile says you are from TN…I know of some guys that travel to TN to striper fish, but not the other way around. You won’t see the real big fish that are commonly caught in the reservoirs and rivers up there. Also, staying in MI, you would have to travel a bit to do some striper fishing.
IMO, Instead of getting a striper guide, I think you would be much better off taking your daughter on an inshore charter down at the coast for reds, trout, flounder etc… I would think that would be more enjoyable for her as it would be fishing for species she doesn’t get a chance to fish for in TN.
What ever you decide, I hope you guys have a great trip!

kinda figured that…striperskiff…going to take our boat down, see what happens…I live on cherokee lake here,a few stripers but not like years past…norris more noted for stripers. talked with a buddy last night, right before lake made this last upward surge, they were catching white bass and hybrids like nobody’s business, also a few stripers below john sevier dam. hybrids up to 8#, best striper 26#. he had not been back and i can’t find the time.
