Fishing with MARSHGRASS

Marsha…aka Marshgrass. Has been. Asking me to join her for a day of fishing for over a year now…and work and weather has always made it “not happen”. Last week she emailed me and said…so lets go fishing on your birthday! Yesterday morning we got a chance to go. Didnt sleep much the night before…couldnt wait to be on the big water again…Loaded up with two live wells full of shrimp and mullet on the way out and had some frozen stuff for back up. Left through the stono inlet which always proves to be a interesting ride… Blue skies and a gentle breeze all around us. On the way out Marsha and I were talking about old fishing adventures and I told her how once I had a live well jam full of bait and when we got to capers it was only to find that the drain tube had bounced out of the live well and we had chummed with some very happy escapee fish the whole way out…lol…bad omen number one for me to mention that:smiley: We get to the first spot…decide to drop a line and open the front live well to see three mullet and a lone shrimp looking up at us! :flushed:. The filtering/drain tube had come out and we had “chummed” fresh bait the whole way out:smiley:. We Still had another live well full but dropped some frozen cut bait over to see if we had any takers. 75 foot water and we couldn’t even get the bait down because of those "endangered Black Sea bass. " Fought them for about 15. Minutes…moved around a few more times with the same results and decided to move on. On the way to the next spot we saw some dolphin sllinging what I first though was a big jelly ball back and forth…closer look and we realized it was a octopus! Dolphin volley ball.. Arrived at next spot and same thing…black sea bass everywhere…and if you didn’t reel fast enough a bigger one would swallow the smaller one on the way up. Seasoned Marsha proved to be the fastest reeler …ESP. With her electric reel…I was reeling my first fish in when I heard zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and looked back to see Marsha lea

I’ve known Marsha since I was a teenager and she’s probably forgotten more about offshore fishing than I will ever know. She won’t take any s–t but will do anything to help someone out - and by the way, she’s a big George Bush fan  - she will kill me for that one!
