Fishing with the Nephews

Well got everyone up at 5:45 to go out with my buddy in his boat on Sunday.
He called off sick and with a fever, back to bed for the kids… For them up about 9 and went out to the dock on the Intercoastal… Youngest nephew
“8” hooked into a huge fish on a bottom shrimp, almost pulled him in, have the pole over to my older nephew “13” and he reeled in a 42 inch red, 27 lbs… Amazing day and smiles all around… Actually jealous of this fish lol…

Awesome report, always great to put kids on fish. What river were you in?

Wow, what a nice fish! Great for the kids. Only problem, the young ones are going to get spoiled. They may never catch a red like that again. I am surprised to see a bull red like that caught in the Waterway where you caught it. I thought you had to go “outside” to catch 40" plus reds?
