Fishing with the troops

The event set up by Captain Mike Glover for this past Friday was a big success. 13 boats took 40+ soldiers out for a morning of striper fishing followed by a weigh in and lunch at the ramp. It was quite an honoer to be out there with these soldiers who do so much for us. MSC was represented well. Of the 13 boats we had 4. James Lindler, Rick Kellemeyer, Lester Jones and myself. The rest of the boats were local guides. Bait was donated by David and Richard. Quite a few fish were caught and everyone had a great time.

Joby,

I think you forgot Buddy Bauknight, who brought the most fish to the scales.

A huge THANKS to all of the MSC members and Captains that stepped up and provided their time and equipment to make this happen. I am sure that the participants had a large time. God Bless the USA!

I ran across this post and just wanted to also mention the Shealy family of Lexington who provided lunch to everyone.

I’d like to share this exerpt from an email that was fowarded to us from Capt Mike a couple of days before the event.

"Mike,

Just wanted to fill you in on the family who is taking care of us for lunch this Friday. Their names are Paul and Brenda Shealy. Their nephew, Lt. Ryan Rawl (133rd Battalian) was killed in Afghanistan several weeks ago and they received tremendous support from the wounded warriors program. What they are doing for us is their way of letting the troops know that even though they lost a loved one, they want to chip in for our cause and make this a memorable event for everyone involved. I would hope that they get a pat on the back from all of us in appreciation for their support."

I took time to personally thank the Shealy’s for their contribution and express my condolences. I am sure I was not the only one.

They are a class act!!
