fix rod tip

i have a 9 ft 8 wt pflueger purist that got about 6 inches knocked off the tip. what are the chances that it will be useful if i just put a new tip on it. i know less expensive rods are more forgiving but is that too much length. if so ill just call it a bream pole and replace it. it is my loaner/backup so it doest have to be perfect. i guess i would then have to overline it to match it back up.
thanks for any experienced advisors

The expert answer to your question is, Blaugh blaugh blaugh blaugh blaugh blaugh."

For what it’s worth, I will be happy to here you say… “I knocked 6 inches off my fly rod and then glued a new tip on it. Here is what I learned next.”

My guess is that it is going to cast like CRAP! But, at least it would be your direct experience. What will it cost you after all? Buck fifty and 30 minutes?

I’ve knocked six inches off of rods before and fished with them for awhile because I was too lazy to send back the broken rod. Did not cast as far but there wasn’t a huge difference

A buddy broke a Pflueger fly rod some years back. Dang(!) that rod cast great.

The company said they would replace it for half the cost of the original rod PLUS shipping.

I miss that old Pflueger rod and enjoy fishing with the new rod he bought from a different company.

Sorry bigger. i had hoped to spare you the trouble of responding to something you know nothing about. Thanks for the other replies. i value your experience. meanwhile what i id ws look up the following article. it describes a break similar to the one that was given back to me. i will let you know how it works out. flyanglersonline.com/features/rodrepair/index.php
