FL Keys Trip (Travel)

Im thinkin about planning a trip to the Keys for the honeymoon. I know my fiance will definately enjoy the trip because of the beaches and paradise atmospher, and I know I will enjoy it as well because Id like to do some fishing

Anyone have any suggestions on were to stay? My plan is to drive down from the Chuck. Bring my 18’ Panga Skiff that I should soon be getting if everything works out as planned. We’d like to stay somewhere quiet and on the cheaper side. No fancy resorts, just a private room or possibly an outside cabana with a thached roof near the water. Id like to have launch access for the boat to do my own fishing, snorkling, or sunset cruses. And we’d like to stay from a Thursday though Monday or Tuesday.

I know this maybe crazy to ask, but if anyone has done anything like this or has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot yall.

PS: If you personally know me and my fiance please dont mention any of this, its all going to be a surprise to her.

Thanks,

Check out the Hammocks @ Marathon. Dock at site and snorling about 4 miles out on a reef. Nice place - stayed there in April. About 1 hour from Key West

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

You’ll be very happy there. Close to Big Pine, Marathon, Looe Key and Key West, yet away from it all. And you can tie your boat right outside your cabin.

Ocean Pointe Resort in Tavenier (Between Key Largo and Islamorada) is about the best place for the money in the keys. www.opsuites.com

I take a group down every few years and we always stay there. Dockage available, nice condos, easy to get to and cheap…

Parmers Resort is ok also, but they have some rooms that are like 10 by 12, rather confining.

Lots of other places, but be sure you get a recommendation from someone you know cause some places down there 5 star dumps.

I did ocean pointe last year, they were pretty good. did a house on the canal this year (last week actually), cant beat that, your own dock/pool, etc.

Cheeka lodge (sp?) would be about the nicest resort type place in that area…

Key Colony Beach near Marathon. We stay there every year. It is fairly cheap and you will have a duplex with a boat dock along with access to the Cabana Club.
