Got this unit last summer, and was working great until a couple of weeks ago. Couldn’t get the gps signal to the unit, although the sonar/depth works fine. I took the unit off the base and blew on the contacts, got it to register a few times, but now I am not having any luck. I am thinking there is a contact problem somewhere- there is minor corrosion on the pins/inputs. Does anyone have any advice on this situation, maybe something to clean the contacts with (I was thinking alcohol, or wd40), but figured there would be some more knowledgeable suggestions. Thanks guys.
Electrical contact cleaner. Found at Lowes in the electrical isle
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”
Rubber pencil eraser to clean the plated contacts on the unit and plug if accesible, (don’t laugh, that’s what NASA uses) otherwise contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol on a q tip works.
