</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”> You got too close to the edges or maybe you walked in through the edges. I got the chiggers on me a few years back when the tide flooded extra high and pushed me into the edges. Campho Phenigue has worked for me since I was 9. Still keep a little green bottle in the med cabinet and it still works. You have to dab each and every bump and just keep dabbing for a few days. Sucks.![]()
I have a bottle of bleach/water mix that I spray on my legs after each trip. I used to get them bad, but havent had that for a while. I agree that it sucks. I looked like I had chickenpox for weeks. Hopefully this helps you out.

Yea we walked the edge to get around a deeper spot… my buddy didn’t get them… they have little white heads on them like an ant bite not red under skin like chiggers… I’ll try anything but I like the bleech water solution for after getting out…

Any particular color?
Clear fingernail polish. Unless you prefer something with a little more pizazz. But it does work.

I will third the clear fingernail polish. I have my own bottle in the medicine cabinet. When I looked around it looked heavy duty. I have 2 daughters and a wife in the house, so if it is not labeled mine, I end up with a nice pink or red Put it on thick, you are trying to suffocate them.
For immediate relief, you can also try soaking in the hottest bath you can stand. Immerse the area that is itching for 15 or better yet 20 minutes. Keep the water very hot as this combination seems to do a good job of boiling / drowning the bugs.
Every time I get em I just smile. Better to be outdoors and dealing with an itch than itching to get outdoors.
I prefer the manly way and just scratch them till they bleed. it works great and you get to satisfy the itching urge. I work in the woods and have them constantly for most of the year. For any doctors who don’t agree, It works and I have never had one get infected.

That what ya call water chiggers you gotta do um like a jellyfish and piss on um. LOL
Fishing is the chance to wash one’s soul with pure air.
The nail polish works great once your legs break out and start itching, but the bleach/ water mix prevents them from showing up at all!

Got them several years back wading, was told they were actually periwinkle snail larve! Took months to heal up and then left little scars still. I tape up long nylon pants at the cuff real good now before wading! The bleachwater sounds like a good idea tho.

Fingernail polish does no good. The insect uses a form of acid to liquify the flesh of its victim, laps up the goo, and jumps off. By the time the irritation manifests the bug is long gone.

exactly, if they are chiggers anyway . . I keep them on my ankles since I’m in the woods almost every weekend. By the time you feel the itch they have done thier damage
quote:The fingernail polish either just helps with the itching or is just a placebo effect. +1 to everything else. A good deet bug spray usually keeps them off me.. legs and belt area keeps em at bay if the grass isn't too tall. Arms also if you're going through taller stuff.
