Well it was a bust for my daughter and I. Although we saw fish, neither one of us managed to land any.
My buddy, John on the other hand, broke one off and caught three (3). A 24", a 25" and a 30". He’s a very humble guy who is always positive and encouraging towards others (especially me) which I appreciate very much, but that just doesn’t help my disappointment in not being able to catch more often than I do. Oh well, there is tomorrow and the next, so hopefully my skills will improve…
It is like my old Battalion Commander used to tell me…John, it is better to be lucky than good. I did manage to catch 3 fish and break one off, I was just lucky enough to have ample opportunity.

Haulin Bass does a great job seeing the fish, and his casting has gotten really good. He just sometimes forgets that haveing over 20 years of fly fishing can be a small advantage…particularly in making a quick cast that is accurate enough, to a fish before he dissappears.
Martin,
If it makes you feel any better I broke one off today when I took an early lunch, and was able to cast to two other fish with absolutely no luck.

I think I remember John posting a report after fly fishing with his daughter, last year. Cool to be able to fly fish with your kids.
