I’m a newbie in the world of kayak fishing and was wondering what everyone would suggest for a paddle.
I have a 14’ Tarpon. Looking to fish flats and not much open water.
I was heavy into river yakin’ long before squirt boats came around.
Love the idea of a one-piece carbon paddle, but a bit too pricey.
Any suggestions?

I am personally a fan of the Werner Skagit for $135. We have carried a lot of paddles over the years in the $100-$160 price range, and I truly believe this is the best of the bunch. It is a two piece, fiberglass and carbon shaft with Nylon and fiberglass reinforced blades. (It is the exact same shaft werner puts on their $265 paddle). Werner also uses an internal ferrule system on this paddle, that is much stronger and much more adjustable than a traditional three hole ferrule. There are other good paddles out there, but I don’t think you can go wrong with this one.

I’ll throw one more into the mix. The Adventure Technology Straight shaft Tour 4E with either standard or oversized blades. Weight is comparable to the Wenrer Skagit, price is just a tad lower, but a couple of nice features includes at the lower price. The ■■■■■■■■■■■ coupler allows you to feather to any angle, not just preset increments. It also has 5 cm length adjustment.
Both are good paddles

Thanks you guys. If you see a guy in a orange Tarpon floundering around the IOP with a new paddle. Stop and say hay.
