What do you see in his mouth?

Looks like an eye strike jig head.What’s the story?

Yes. Eye strike finesse. Opening night colored paddle tail grub. Two fish like that. I wanted a photo of it’s mouth and had forgotten it swallowed the jig. Later when looking at the photo I noticed the jig halfway into it’s stomach. They hit the jigs so hard the second had it completely in it’s stomach. No counting to 10 and then setting the hook on these two.

Thanks for the report and good job getting out there. I don’t believe in the count down method,I’ve caught too many while trolling.The counting may help with smaller fish when using large finger mullet.

To answer your question . . . I was going to say . . . yo fingers. Nice report. Haven’t been able to catch the flounders reliably on artificials. Can say this . . . The 10 count? Sometimes I count to 20. Go get a beer. Put it n free spool. Big, small, no matter. No disrespect. Just experience. Count to 10. #128516;#128522;#9996;#65039;#128170;

Fishing flounders with artificials i get 3 types of hits. I cast let it sink to the bottom and then start retrieving. Sometimes they are on it and you just feel the weight. Then there is the hold on to it hit and let go and then there is the slam it hit. I fish them the same way i do reds and trouts. For me its less about the fish and more about the bait im using dictating my presentation and style of fishing. You see they have no problem swallowing a minnow imitation I think hit number 2 the hold is where you would want to do a count down but with artificials i like to set the hook before they spit it out. I get about 10 little hold on hits to 1 that feels like its got weight. That makes me believe they are usually small. Artificials cover more ground which is important to flounder fishing. Everyone i know that catches a lot of flounder use artificials. Most big flounder i here of are on finger mullet.

Dude!! You rigged your ptail up side down. Lol.

Upside down paddle paddle tails work better for Left eye flounder on falling tide during tropical storms with waxing moon phase. :smiley:

Nice report

I wonder how many undersized flounder are gut hooked and released to die using the count to 10 method?Seems like a irresponsible way to fish nowadays with size limits.:question:

Yeah, I’m with you. I’ve never used the count to anything with flounder, but I also grew up catching them in Chincoteague VA in the 1980s - we could drift and drag mud minnows on the bottom to catch them with no problem. The SCDNR Flounder publication talks about the count to 10 or more.
