Anyone do it before? Got any pointers?
From what I’ve been able to find Givhans Ferry to Messervy looks like the best first time route.
This probably won’t be much of a fishing excursion but I figured you all would know something about it.

There is a group that does it every summer from Branchville, all the way to the beach. Usually leave Friday and get there Sunday afternoon. It’s more of a social event, though.

We’ve always done fresh water good hope landing to Jericho. It takes about 5 to 12 hrs depending on water flow and how much you stop on the islands. Check the water levels to high or to low and its not as fun. Watch out for trees and logs in the water. The bottom is course sand and limestone. You will see some birds fish turtles and maybe a watersnake. The weekends bring the crowds and the people are a mix of nice old southern folk to roughneck trash. Overall it is a cool and fun experience. You need 2 cars, 1 to drive back to start from finish when its over. Don’t drink to much, be aware of current and weather. A small boat float is good for coolers and its nice to have a rope to hold everything and everyone together.
Once you’re about 100 yards from the landing look at everybody and ask them if they want you to point out the snakes.
Don’t bring dogs.
Bud Light cans float… Budweiser cans sink.

lot of people put in at mars oldfield landing and go down
it would be a good day of floating to get you to the state park or farther down to messervys landing
and be careful what you park at both of these landings overnight . lotta broken glass there in the past
