Floatation foam

Has anyone ever added foam to thier boat to make it “unsinkable” and if so, who would be a good person to consult or perform such a task? I have a sea pro 238. Thanks for any advice

Don’t do it…I bought a used boat awhile back that thing had foam everywhere, the problem the foam wasn’t closed cell and it was water logged, added hundreds of pound to the boat plus being water logged it had no floatation anyway. Invest instead in a few good bilge pumps or use air bags instead

Thanks, Sounds like good advice. I have all the safty equipment but the ocean makes you think of anything that you might could do to head off bad stuff…

I had a friend that had the old renken factory blow some foam for him. Same quality as in any new construction boat. Problem is getting bilge dry enough to blow and not screwing up tunnels where wires and cables run. His was a small hull not off shore.

what he said…big bilge pumps. and backup pumps.

ft worry.

Or a life raft. You can get small portable ones for less than $1k now. Probably can find them used for half that. Would be better option than trying to make a sinkable boat non-sinkable.

Also keep in mind that not all foam filled boats are the same. If it doesn’t have level floatation it isn’t really going to help you. Try hanging on to a boat that isn’t level in the water rocking around. I would much rather be in a life raft.
