Have an old 14’ polarkraft that I am wanting to put a floor in. Not going to spend money on it so dont suggest marine plywood. Just want to know what thickness would work…would 1/4" work or should I stay with 1/2 or 3/8? I was thinking 3/4 would be a little overkill. What have you used? Thanks
I have the same boat. I put in 1/4" p.t. plywood and it’s worked fine. the ribs in the boat are 12" apart so you don’t need extremely thick plywood. i glued marine grade vinyl and it’s worked for several years.
I used 3/4 on my 16 Polarkraft. Works fine. Probably could get away with a little thiner. I put rubber weather stripping on the ribs and then put the wood down. It keeps the noise down. It works well.

Good to hear that 1/4 will work…I like that polarkraft, seems like a solid boat so far. Get Grady that is a good idea to put weather stripping down first; my goal is to keep the noise level down when I drop shells or the pliers.

1/4" is going to have ALOT of flex in it
if you were to coat both side with a layer of glass and resin, it would reduce rot potential, and greatly increase strength, with out to much cost
if not, use 1/2"CDX and several coats of paint
Chris,
yeah I have some left over glass mat I was going to “seal” the wood with…you are right, would reduce rot and is very easy to do and is “free” since material is surplus. I don’t mind having some flex in it due to the fact that the stringers are close together and toward the bow, the hull has a little vee in it making the floor not exactly flat. That’s why I was thinking 3/4 would be overkill…especially marine 7 ply…that stuff gets HEAVY! Thanks guys
Chris C, that was the 3/4 ply I was talking about in my original post…that is AC grade wood and it is HEAVY! I got some 1/4 and 3/8 Ill glass up and use. Have a stack of skid boards in the yard
