Hey I have an older 25 ft c hawk w the deeper V. I’m I the process and tearing the floor out and was going to back with marine grade plywood and a layer of glass but the stringers are bad. I have to cut those out now and try to get them back in but I don’t know what the best way to go about it would be. Also I don’t know if I should use two layers of 3/4 glued together or just go with a think piece of davinycell down there. Plus any help on where to buy that stuff the cheapest would be awesome.
I started a similar project a few years back and wound up hiring the job out. The Pro’s aren’t cheap, but they do the job right. That’s not a job for a novice. I was attached to my boat, as it belonged to my dad. Otherwise, it is probably best to buy a newer used boat if the budget does not allow for a new boat.

Check the transom also I bet it is as bad as the stringers! Been thru all that and about threw, I ran out epoxy and had to order more, hope its here tomorrow. Its a tuff job and takes time. now that days are getting cooler your work time is getting smaller unless you have a heated shop. Good luck, I used all treated 3/4" ply on the stringers and 1/2" on floor that has been drying for years, I wouldn’t use fresh lumber yard ply, too wet! This is the first time I have used epoxy. I sure like it, I think it doesn’t go as far as polamar. Good luck!

Not as forgiving…I use Epoxy for bottom barrier coat.
The transom is solid as well as the gunnel cap and the rest of the hull. I work with glass a good bit but I’ve never done stringers. I just figured I would cut one at the time out and replace it that way I don’t worry about the hull twisting… I wanted to cry when I started pulling the floor out and got my first good look in there.
If you hire a professional Bobby Gehlkn with G-Craft in Awandaw is your man. 843-881-5512

If you use plywood make sure to use Douglas Fir Marine plywood. A standard exterior CDX 3/4" plywood or green pressure treated plywood will not work. Don’t waste your time. Douglas Fir 3/4" also has 6-8 layers and all knots are clean (Grade A face with grade B back) which reduces your finish time.
Last time we ordered a pallet of it, it was around $55 a sheet for 4’ x 8’ x 3/4" and there are approximately 40-45 sheets per pallet. That was around 7 years ago. I don’t recall who we ordered it from but google will help you with that. You will be hard pressed to find quality Grade A sheets locally. DO NOT ORDER FROM HOME DEPOT OR LOWES. You need to go to a lumber yard and inquire.
Good luck with your project and as long as you have the time, patience, willingness to learn and itch like h3ll you will be just fine:wink:
Sorry to disagree, but Lowes west Ashley carries 3/4" Douglas fir marine grade plywood for about $75/ sheet. Have used some of it and it is true marine grade with minimal inner layer voids. Maybe a little expensive, but convenient.

Southern Lumber has 3/4" true marine ply - 76$/sheet
1/2" true marine ply - 60$/sheet
I also second using Bobby G at Gcraft in Awendaw if you are going to use a pro. The touch up work he did on my boat was absolutely flawless. Dont personally know him except meeting him to pickup/drop off my boat but i can attest that his work was literally perfect.
