WHAT A DAY! Went out with Dad to get some bottom bumping action going. Got on the water at 5:30 a.m. Stopped at Charleston 60 first. After spending HOURS trying to anchor, drift, and just be able to fish without having to drive the boat to get back on the spot, we get about 20 keeper BSB in the boat. (That’s the only fish that came up each drop). Decided to try some live bottom and follow the 150 degree line starting in 75 ft. Immediately found a GREAT marking. Dropped buoy and fished if for about 20 minutes with a nonstop bite. We must have drifted 1000 or more feet and bite never turned off. Problem was it was again, all BSB. Topped out our limit of BSB and decided to go further down the 150 line. Picked up nothing else good. Decided to head to the Commanche to get some trigger and b-liners and try for ARS and Grouper. After having to got NE dead into the 3’ers, 1 hr later we were there…and got NOTHING! Couple ruby lips and 6" b-liners…Bottle Nosed dolphin were EVERYWHERE!!! There had to be 20+ with their babies at the Commache. Will at the 150 line decided to take a couple pics of some I saw. Did catch personal best BSB’s though. Some BSB’s being around 17" and fat!.. Not the best of days but 30 fish is better than 0.
Will post more fish pictures later when we get them sorted before cleaning them tomorrow. Here’s a couple from today.
Thanks guys. I tell you what, I think the BSB’s fight harder than some of the others we were searching for. with a BSB you may think you have a 16" one and pull up a 10 incher… Hook a triple and you’re in for a pull
Also would like to note, if you ever think saving $3 bux at walmart to get squid instead of Haddrells, you’re sadly mistaken! I got the nastiest, rottenest, worst squid you could imagine. It smelled like straight death, was red/purple in color, squishy, full of nasty brown sh*t, and was not fun to deal with!..
Moral to the story: GO TO HADDRELL’s and get the good stuff!
that sweet goatee makes me laugh everytime , nice fish , is that pontoon your new trophy
MAY YOUR COOLERS STAY FULL AND YOUR RODS STAY BENT!!!
That’s the greatest striper fishing boat ever!!! put so many rod holders on it, no seats to get in your way…that’s my dads though…we don’t spend $20,000 on a new pontoon looking pretty b/c we only have it for 1 reason, fishing, and sometimes cruising but a lawn chair works GREAT!
about 300 yards from where boat is in water, the striper are loaded. go out with the ugly stick, 12lb cajun line, and a buck tail jig with chartreuse hog caller worm…tear em up!
