We’ve been batting the idea around. It would be EPIC. We’re sure a 16’ Flats (like Leadenwahboy’s) would be up to challenge. We’d be giving up a couple of feet of hull length to the others. But, the Bentz outter hull shape gives a very soft ride for its length. When/if the water was reasonably flat, depending on power on the transom, we could make nice speed. We are in the middle of float testing our prototype and we’re now sure it will be capable of carrying 90hp = redonkulous speed. What we’re stumped on is how to find a couple of young backs to take the beating. 'Would be a ton of fun, though.

sign me up, ill take the beating

That would be a hell of a trip with a tiller!! For sure fun but, for sure for a young man know that. I guarantee you to see some sketchy water before that trip is done.

J Ford

a 90 on a bentz will run around 60mph. 1200miles, 20 hours, no sweat.

Using the tiller keeps the setup simple. Less to break if you assume your arm and shoulder are up to the task.

All those setups to keep the tiller straight only work if you’re going in a straight line and are ill advised in rough water.

Those guys were pretty ballsy to run the ocean in that weather. Kudos to them, but I hope it doesn’t give some idiots the wrong idea.

As fun as that would be, you can only use a 60hp motor for the competition
