I just scored a hell of a deal on a new Floscan 5500 for my boat. It will go on a single engine carburetor motor.
Does anyone have any tips/ tricks for installation? I am looking at doing myself if it is not too complicated. I am fairly handy with a set of tools, but not a seasoned shade-tree mechanic.
Also, this unit comes with 2 sensors, so if you know of someone who needs a sensor - let me know.
Make sure the sensor is mounted vertically so the fuel flows up. This will keep any air from getting trapped in the sensor and developing any inaccuracies.

The installation is really very simple, once you digest the instructions which were written with the help of lawyers. The most important thing seems to be to mount it between the fuel filter and the motor, with the fuel line going uphill from the floscan to the motor. One thing to remember is that there is current drain to keep the totalizer going. You either have to switch the power off to the gauge (which resets the totalizer)or keep an eye on the battery charge level if you don’t use the boat frequently. These things are amazingly accurate!
