Flounder gigging is a terrible thing to do and a complete waste of time unless you go to murrell’s inlet, thats a FACT !!! I know this because I stay and gig around the charleston waters all the time so I can let everybody know the flounder are not here !!! You know because fisherman never tell lies!
I absolutely love to go, but haven’t been in 2 years. My schedule, my buddy’s schedule, the tide, and the weather haven’t lined up for us. So when it does all come together, there’s still no guarantee we’ll see legal fish. But I’m all for it.
-The size of a fish is directly proportional to the time between when it’s lost and the story is told. - Me
-What’s the best eating fish, you ask? I’ve found that for a lot people, its the ones that they happen to be able to catch, clean, and cook. - My Dad
-Until you have loved a dog, part of your soul remains unawakened. Anatole France (paraphrased)
-RIP my “Puppy Dog” 10/15/2004 - 1/14/2013. I’ll never forget him. What a special friend he was.
I’m all for it but just like any form of fishing you have to obey the law and know when you’ve harvested enough even if it’s within the law.
It’s actually my favorite thing to do not just favorite way to fish. But unfortunately I haven’t been in years as I haven’t had access to a boat or a partner since my dads back went out.
It’s an amazing experience. Get away from the city and you’ll get an amazing view of the stars and if you watch for a few minutes you’ll see plenty of shooting stars. You get to see the fish, minnows, crabs, etc in their natural state up close. It’s amazing how many blue crabs, stone crabs, needle fish, reds, mullet, skates, turtles, and flounder you can see. Seeing a 4’ black tip inches from your boat just cruise by under the lights is just awesome. Got a triple tail one night as a kid.
all the purist complain about it especially when you stick one of the last remaining spottail bass but I absolutely love the sport and if the species could actually be effected by such a small percentage of sportsmen then they were in trouble already. Just like the tuna disappearing nature does things we dont understand and then we like to point fingers. Heard this real nitwit of a guide running his mouth about giggers one day to a charter customer from out of the area. It was sad to think that a long list of incorrect info was all those out of towners will probably ever know.
Spot on sniper7 with that statement ! However the last place you took me gigging must have been one of natures disappearing acts cuz we didn’t see crap !
