flounder gigging, walking

Any ya’ll bought the led lights from New Zeland, its on a pole you hold (lights are underwater) for 100$+; they are run off of AA batts.
Do they work? Any better ideas?

Are you talking about these? http://www.fishingkites.co.nz/flounder_fishing/flounder_lights.html

They look good, but are you planning on gigging from a boat or walking?

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Only walking,
I also wonder about the one with the electrodes (immersed in salt water turns it on). This might be a good thing with the absense of any switches.

I have heard of people walking the area around Pitt St for flounder … thought about it but never have done it

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

i walk and gig and personally i don’t like the “white” lights.

I guess if I paid more attention to the post title I wouldn’t have asked if you would be walking.

The lights look good and bright. I have used white led lights and they weren’t bright enough for me. (But they were not the quality that these lights appear to be) If you get some post how well they do or don’t work.

We use to walk the flats by the Pitt Str. bridge and all the way down to Alhambra hall. We used coleman lanterns and single point giggs.

Decided on this one. I’ll give a report in a few weeks.

I’ve been using Chris’s underwater LED’s for ~2 yrs and I like them. www.coastalnightlights.com

For walking, I have been using LED q-beams for a while and I like that just as well as anything. Works well and is rechargeable and not as much hassle as underwater light IMHO.

Silicone a round headlight in a 3" pvc cleanout, cement a reducer and 1 1/2" pvc handle on. Put 12v deepcycle battery( a lawnmower battery will run it for short trips) in a bucket and blow an inner tube up around it. Fairly cheap, submersible, lasts for years. Doubles as a boat qbeam, or a deer spotlight(but only where legal!)

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!
The harder you work, the luckier you’ll get.
