Flounder Gigging

We have only been gigging twice, last year out of Remleys Point area. I have a friend whose 72 year old father wants to go in a couple weeks during his Charleston visit. Would it be “rude” to ask for a couple other recommended areas? (198 Carolina skiff)

You can ask. People usually don’t tell.

Lots of people trying to gig these days, and God isn’t making more banks.

Looking for flounder, you need to look for three things: clear water, structure, and bait. Find those three things whether it be on sandy or muddy or shelly bottom, and you’ll find fish. There are flounder pretty much anywhere salt water is. Folly is good, parts of stono produce, wando, cooper, parts of Ashley, ICW, they are all over. The fish are just now coming in Charleston in numbers. We went last week and saw 15 or so, mostly small fish though.
Another few weeks and the big boys should be in with better numbers.
