Flounder Gigging

I’m trying to get into flounder gigging. Any pointers or good spots for gigging. I’m on Sullivan’s Island. Will a big spotlight suffice at the front of my 17 foot Boston whaler? Also is is possible to gig some sheepshead too? All responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Might want to get some lights for the sides too I had a hard time seeing everything with just one.

I’d like to get into it also 19 wad eagle.

Get you some led in water lights to start out with not to expensive and no gen needed.

We gigged a lot with just a big spot light hooked up to a car battery. I never saw many sheeps, but we would get the occasional red.

Be very selective with your fish – size can be difficult to estimate underwater. If it looks close, just leave it. The bottom fillets get pretty thin on the small ones anyway.

Get LED’s front and side. A spotlight is too concentrated. You want to light up as large an area as possible.

Modern times means modern equipment, but a single Coleman lantern has helped in sticking many Flounder over the years. Like Bryson said not so much on Sheep, but you’ll probably see some spot tail. Yes a big spotlight will work. I’d recommend a separate battery for it.

If you want to see some awesome gigging set ups take a look at some of the boats used for night time bow fishing. Light up the area like a little city.

An old Coleman lantern has served me well, and I’ve never used anything fancier than a Q-Beam. Stuck many flounder with both.

I have 3 led light bars on my boat. Lights up the water well, and I can run off 1 battery for several days. We used to used spot lights and work lights, but we realized we probably were missing a lot of fish after we began using the bars. Good luck!
