Flounder Pounder

I Recieved a call from Captain Mike on Sunday who said he had a couple of friends that wanted to do some fishing and diving. He brought J5 (to do some bottom fishing) and his friend Irene from Germany (to do her first dive in Charleston). I was happy to get out! I didn’t know if I was going to get a chance to dive after one trip already fell through. We made it to the landing around 8am after stopping for fuel and a Kona Blend energy drink. We headed out for a quick trip and a couple of dives. Broseph had to be back to pick up his girl from the airport at 5 so we got down to business. We made two dives in the 70 to 90 foot range. Amazing visibility in that I was able to see the bottom of my boat at 65Ft! We will be freediving soon! J5 battled a nice red snapper to the boat a few minutes after we set the hook. Caught some other small fish and suited up to dive. Mike and I grabbed a few Gags and an anchor on the first dive. Irene came along to spectate and see where fresh seafood comes from. After our SI we moved on to our second dive. We quickly picked up our last gag and enjoyed the scenery. I picked up a few flounder on our last couple of trips and I figured this spot would hold some also. After finding the first one I noticed that they were all over the place! We snagged 7 and headed back to the boat. While we were on the bottom J5 took care of business and loaded us up with some triggers. Not sure kind of bird was munching on our bait, but it was cool watching him dive down 4 to 5 ft. and grab some fish we donated him. Another awesome day in calm seas with great friends!
