I should probably do one trip with each of you guys to see who the better gigger is... Just a thought...

How do people find sport in gigging is what confuses me. Flounder are not hard catch conventional way. Also not just killing off as many as possible…because I’m sure going to eat all that yourself

Plenty of guys at PETA do not think that your idea of fishing is very sporting... It's all relative. People should do what they get excited about as long as it's within legal and moral limits. Who gets to be the judge of what is sporting and what is not?

Honestly, I think it looks pretty fun…

Wonder if his insurance company knows he is chartering? One hook in a finger, will fix it!

Had a kid this summer get a hook in his eye lid, scary stuff, he went to the ER and they ended up doing a skin graft to fix the spot on his eye. They had to take the piece of skin from his ***** which makes it even crazier. Kid will make a full recovery, he will just be a little cockeyed the rest of his life....

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

wonder what easys insurance would say about a boot up his azz?

Now we get physical threats?

You must have taken that shovel back…

This is why we can’t have nice things!!

Gigging is fun even if you dont pile the fish in the boat. Whole different world out there in the dark.

First, Most, Biggest

if the hook in a kids finger question was a physical threat then so was my question… and im not sure why you cant have nice things but Im sorry to hear that

Wow.

So I’m gonna post my advice here since it didn’t seem to reach you in the Offshore forum:

Joel,

I fished with you earlier this spring. If you recall, our captain was REELLY* tall, and we nearly got spooled by some mystery fish. My advice to you would be to let your hard feelings go, man. They’re only gonna hurt you…

My advice still applies.:face_with_head_bandage:

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

sniper, I’m fully insured, if you would care to try putting one there! Just make sure, you have your’s paid up!

I’ve always enjoyed gigging myself. Love being on the water at night. Never been terribly good at catching them with a hook, most flounder I catch are pure accidental, but I know how to stick them. I’ve never been a greedy fisherman, enough for a meal or 2 for everybody is enough for me. Gives me an excuse to go back next week.
But as Skinneej said, if it’s legal and moral and you enjoy it, do it.

It’s not as easy as you think and takes some practice. Not very often are the conditions good for it either. It has to be flat calm and clear water.

I’m bowing out of that Capt. license discussion. That’s between him and the powers that be. The powers that be read these forums. I asked the question, never got an answer. None of my concern.

I’d be real cautious about making threats like that if I were you. Easy won’t be easy

Easy, release the Kracken, “I know you have it in you” :imp:

Na, I’ll just charter him and put a hook in my finger and then sue! That way, we will find out about the Captains License and insurance all at once!:imp:

If someone sues me for that I am keeping finger since I will have basically bought it.

Just make sure you wrap it in a wet paper towel.

I’ll get Phin, for my lawyer and I’ll walk away with your little boat, to use when 23 teaches me how to gig:smiley:

I’ve been sued 3 times running charters. Once an old fellow had a heat stroke. Once when a fellow got his ear cut off by a fishing line, once when a young girl broke her hip, and there has been a few other times when I could have been. Better have real good insurance and a captains license if you are running any kind of trips for hire. The law of averages run out one day.

I used milk and ice for the ear. It was successfully reattached. Had a man lose a finger once but it went overboard, not to be recovered.
