Located in James Island/Folly Area. I realize this time of year is really the decline of Flounder, but I know there are some still left.
What areas do you recommend for Flounder Fishing for a boatless angler?
-Been fishing mostly JI/Folly Areas (See info below)
What gear/rig do you prefer this time of year?
-Been primarily using Carolina Rig. Contemplating using a double rig (one teaser and a gulp arty for the upper rig). Also use popping cork if I have a good bearing of the depth or if the current is roarin’.
What techniques are you employing?
-With the Carolina Rig I am slowly (i mean slowly) dragging it across the bottom. Any other techniques for this or with the double rig?
Areas I have fished recently:
-
Maybank Boat Landing (On Ramp to left/Under Bridge/Far Right)
Notes: Fishing Mud Minnows/Carolina Rig (1-ounce/Tide was incoming) -
Folly Island (Morris Island/Folly County Park)
Notes: Folly County Park was decent, but around the bend was where I was targeting (good depth changes)
Morris Island side of Folly is a little more difficult due to all the rocks (carolina rig), but not horrible (any specific parts of the beach/near sea walls that ya’ll prefer?) -
Folly Bridges: Not ideal for Carolina rig due to rocky landscape and not enough mud flats, mostly catching reds (which are fun), but I want those Flounder Tacos!)
-
Sullivans/Fort Moultrie
Notes: Yeah, it’s overfished, but It’s a beautiful view and produces from time to time.
Fishing the sea walls (Sketchy during the winter) really not producing a bite even at dead low.
