Flounder Spots in Folly Beach

Located in James Island/Folly Area. I realize this time of year is really the decline of Flounder, but I know there are some still left.

What areas do you recommend for Flounder Fishing for a boatless angler?

-Been fishing mostly JI/Folly Areas (See info below)

What gear/rig do you prefer this time of year?

-Been primarily using Carolina Rig. Contemplating using a double rig (one teaser and a gulp arty for the upper rig). Also use popping cork if I have a good bearing of the depth or if the current is roarin’.

What techniques are you employing?

-With the Carolina Rig I am slowly (i mean slowly) dragging it across the bottom. Any other techniques for this or with the double rig?

Areas I have fished recently:

  1. Maybank Boat Landing (On Ramp to left/Under Bridge/Far Right)
Notes: Fishing Mud Minnows/Carolina Rig (1-ounce/Tide was incoming)

  2. Folly Island (Morris Island/Folly County Park)
Notes: Folly County Park was decent, but around the bend was where I was targeting (good depth changes)
Morris Island side of Folly is a little more difficult due to all the rocks (carolina rig), but not horrible (any specific parts of the beach/near sea walls that ya’ll prefer?)

  3. Folly Bridges: Not ideal for Carolina rig due to rocky landscape and not enough mud flats, mostly catching reds (which are fun), but I want those Flounder Tacos!)

  4. Sullivans/Fort Moultrie
Notes: Yeah, it’s overfished, but It’s a beautiful view and produces from time to time.
Fishing the sea walls (Sketchy during the winter) really not producing a bite even at dead low.

Caught some at demetre park.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

Getting too late in the year to be catching many keeper flounder from shore. Keep focusing on rocks near inlets your time will come when they come back in from offshore in April or May through November
