Gonna try drifting/bumping the creeks tomorrow around 3pm.
What tide do you fish on? Also, how do you your terminal tackle?

I like the water moving and prefer low, but go when I can. Seems like outgoing produced a few more… guess I look at the wind and chance of getting hit by lightning:smiley:
I like splitshots and those bullet weights/toothpick to bump the bottom with a leader, especially after a break-off and use a smaller than average hook… #6-2 depending on mudders or fingers.
Read your reports and think maybe I should tag along with you for some pointers.

well the horseshoe must be somewhere else than in his boots …I think the saying goes …"he’s got a horseshoe up his [:0] " …either that or the fishing a couple times a week thing …

Any time. I fish the Stono every weekend because it is my back yard. For terminal tackle I usually use main line > swivel snap>*** swivel> 2" leader> bullet weights/split shot> 6" leader> circle hook> mud minnow. I either leave this on the bottom or drag it and it seems to work great. I will post a pic of this setup if I get a chance.
*** I pre-tie many of these so that I can change them out when I loose hooks or when teeth weaken the leader.

Yeah, would love to see a pic of the tackle your using on the Stono

Wow Jordan that sounds like a lot of failure points… I run a bead, egg weight, bead, swivel, 12-14" leader, hook bait… My only real failure point is the braid to swivel or leader to swivel… I don’t use snap swivels anymore… Too Busy and I have had the same problem… 20# braid and a 35# swivel that failed when hooked up… now I ain’t no math genuis but you’d think that a 35# swivel would hold up and the 20# line would break but like I said I guess I forgot to carry the three Not saying your rig isn’t any good, you seem to be doing reely well on it… so don’t change if it’s workin for ya… the 26th is gonna be a hoot brother… hopefully Red will be home

I agree that swivel/snap to a swivel makes for un needed complexity and adds a failure point but I use ultrasmall 50# swivels that haven’t failed yet. The snap is the weakest point IMO, but I have upgraded these to a brand that seems to hold up pretty well. I’m not ready to give up the snap because it allows me to quickly swap out for my pre-tied weight, leader, hook rigs whenever they get worn. I go through 2-5 of these per trip and I hate to retie on the water. I will try to post a pic tonight when I can retie some more. Also remember, I have only been fishing here since September and this is just what I have found works for me.

Normally I put the weight closer to the swivel but This one is extra long so I can use it on a braided line setup. The line is wrapped around the split shot to keep it from moving and the knots are tied at home in good light so I trust them more than anything I tie on the water. I keep several of these with me in the kayak and change them out on my swivel snap as they become worn from fighting fish. Almost no snags on this setup as long as I don’t rake oysters. The snap is the weakest component in this setup, but I make sure to buy ones that are rated for at least 50#. SPRO makes some size 9 super small swivel snaps (Hyper snap) that are rated for 50# and have a nice gun metal black finish. They are all I use when I have them. They are like $2 each at local shops. Notice the micro swivel in this picture, it is a 50# SPRO size 8 and isn’t much bigger than the 20# leader. The swivel version of this is about the same size and super strong. I may just use split rings to join two of these swivels together though because it would be cheaper and even stronger.
