What is a good artificial to keep in the truck for fishing on a whim? Some times I like to hang out around water at lunch or take a break. Would like to keep a rod and something to toss around. What is good for under a float. Thinking some kind of grub to let bottom bump as it drifts along. Don’t know about color or what have you. Have some of those gulp strips if that would work.
I’ve had some luck in the past with those rubber shrimp.Usually have a few in the small tackle box just in case.
make sure you keep in your box, or someplace cool, grubs melt during summer, found some gulp under my seat last week felt like chewed gum…
Anything white would be good, or Gulp natural shrimp. Gulp swimming mullet in smoke/metalflake are good too. Recently I have done well with a 4" money minnow on a 1/4 oz. red head jig. That is really a bass bait, but it swims really well and looks a little like a glass minnow. They really like white for some reason. Even white paddle tail grubs work better than other colors.

i’ve caught a few on the world famous ELECTRIC CHICKEN.
I agree with Pioneer that white is deadly. I have great luck with white bass worms, texas rigged for bumping along the bottom.
