flounder

I’m curious as to how flounder giggin would work from a yak. The way I see it the yak is nice and quiet and can get into skinny waters but sittn down detracts from being able to spot them like standing on a boat. Anybody got any advice or tips?

I agree that sitting down would make it difficult. There are several kayaks that you can stand in very easily. Wilderness commander, Ride 135, Native’s ultimate series, freedom hawk, etc. I fish out of a Native Ultimate 14.5 and can stand all day. Not sure what kayak you have but if gigging is up there on your list of priorities then perhaps consider a boat that would allow you to stand. Outriggers are also a option I guess or perhaps a leaning post installed on your existing yak. Good luck to you!

you will need to be able to stand.

Gigging from a kayak is an intriguing thought. I have a yak that’s not good for standing in but it might not be hard to fit quick pontoons or other stabilizers on it. Could at least be a source of future funny stories…

Never tried gigging though.
