So I’ve been hearing some good reports of flounder fishing now, and I tried like all getout to catch one last year. I’ve never caught a flounder before and really want to. I’m fishing the lowcountry anglers tournament and that’s one species ill target, along with sheepshead and trout. What are you guys favorite rigs for flounder fishing? What is generally the preferred bait, I have heard MMs but also FMs and shrimp? Some people like to use different hooks and things also. I’ll probably have every kind of live bait with me since I’m tournament fishing. What is a floundeds preferred location, mud/sand grass lines, oysters, rocks, am I looking for bait in the water? Is Rodney rod holder your friend while flounder fishing or do you need to hold it and set the hook? Also are the good trout in deep structure and oyster points or creek mouths and grass lines? I’ll be fishing both sides of the high, mostly incoming though. Is it worth it to go buy a topwater plug and get out there early and try for trout? Don’t want to start a huge fight and I realize if you ask 5 different fishermen you’ll get 6 different answers but what are genrally your favorite topwaters?
Thanks yall!

Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in pfgs and buffs.
This is second hand info from my father who regularly catches flounders. He uses a crank bait with a slow retrieve usually on outgoing tide near the grass. I used this technique today, to no avail. however nothing was biting today
My parents have been catching a bunch off the my pleasant peir i have had any luck yet this year only some big reds in the intracoastal with mullet and shrimp
grub with curly tail on a 1/8oz jighead, no color regular lead head. bounce it off the bottom, be prepared to hang up. i did however catch a 16in flounder sunday afternoon
topwater is worth it. we fish for reds but lately have been catching trout in excess before the sun comes up. use a rapala skitter walk from 5:30 to 7 in the morning and you should get alot of big trout
this is good stuff here.my most productive holes are all full of structure. i also like to use flounder rigs and dropper rigs w spinners and mm or fm on the hook.I like the spinner esp in muddy water.just drag in really slow across the bottom. Here are some we caught all within a few feet of each other at the flounder hole. I love to eat flounder so i usually keep them. Good luck to ya yakman.

I’ve been catching quite a bit of flounder lately. I just put a MM or Skrimp under a float and let it drift the grass line. When my float shoots under, i just reel in as fast as I can. I usually have a lot of slack in my line, so I think that gives the flounder enough time to take the bait to the bottom and eat it. I don’t really target flounder, but I sure have been catching a lot lately in between trout hook ups.
