I’m newer to Mt Pleasant (2 yrs ago) and just getting back to fishing (I have a 9 month old) and I’m looking for flounder. Whenever I go out I’m getting trout and reds. I’m not complaining but I’d like to get some flounder for dinner too!
The only flounders I’ve caught are at Pitt St and they were all too small. Any suggestions on catching some more flat fish?

Maybe they are being caught and not reported but, it doesn’t seem like as many are being caught this year. The few I have caught were all exactly 13" long…just my luck. The giggers seem to be getting them. Be happy you are catching trout and reds. I have not mastered trout yet, hope to get better at them.
I have been consistently catching flounder in the Mt. Pleasant area when I fish for them. I mainly wade fish. I usually catch them on gulp baits. Last time I went, the biggest was on the trout trick. I usually prefer to use jerk baits, rigged weedless with no weight. I bump the bottom on a slow retrieve. Last time I caught 5, time before that 3, time before that 5. Slow retrieve, no weight, bumping bottom.
Narcosis
Concentrate on man made structure close to the inlets. clean water definately helps. here’s a blog…these tactics will work anywhere flounder live. one of our favorite fish to catch. (305 this year…all on artificial)

Thanks for the tips! Sounds like I need to start actually using the artificials I have in the tackle box.

fishinmyot,
I have been narced before at about 125 ft in Lake Hartwell on a bridge inspection several years ago. I can tell you it is darker than the dark side of the moon that deep in Hartwell. I have had dives as deep and deeper without narcosis. As a professional diver I try to avoid it.
Narcosis
Me and you both…I came close in Cozumel out at Columbia reef…125’ dive. Swore I’d never dive again after a long night at Carlos and Charlies guzzeling TiKILLya!
