Every Memorial day weekend I catch loads of 8-12" flounder and a few 16-20"! It seams they never grow, what happens to them when they get to keeper size? They don’t seem to come back to the same places! I must have caught 75 last weekend.
They get kept. Fish some where with less pressure.
75 in a weekend?! Dang!! That’s pretty impressive!
I’ve heard they go deep when they get big… but I have no idea really

By the time they reach keeper size, the commercials have scooped them all up and they’re in restaurants all over the country.
I’m Lost. I’ve Gone to look for myself. If I should return before I get back, PLEASE ask me to wait.

While on the topic of flounder, what are you using as bait? Trying to get on flounder this summer. Fished mud minnows in the past with decent luck. Still a good option? Or are artificials a common tactic.

I have used flounder belly strips and the realy work well and last a long time, Have caught them on Menhaden and finger mulett small spots and croakers also work. I have a friend that swears by bacon strips Any plastic swim bait will work try putting fish oil on them. Dad use to catch them trawling big lip rebels.
Boatpoor I’ve yet to have any luck getting on flounder. I also rigged me up a fork to stab me some soon. Have to finish lighting up the boat. As far as catching them though, nooooo luck.
WOW! Good catching on the flounder. If you are catching that many, and want some intel on where they go, my recommendation would be to join the SCDNR fish tagging program. Good data can be gleaned over time from getting recapture reports in the form of growth, recapture rate and sometimes you see where they move.
