Flourocarbon lines

Well, I got a new shimano spinner and it came with free line from Sportsman’s Warehouse in Columbia. So I asked for 15 lb flourocarbon on it! Got it home, took it off, put on some braid and had some nice (???) flouro to use for leaders! So, off I go and man did I get a rooked on that set of line! That stuff was terrible! It broke at way under 8 lbs several times and it was stout stuff, same diameter as some Trilene I have that is 15 lb. <Big L on forehead>. So, what have you all used that’s good stuff? Is there “really” a big difference in how strong they are? Anybody done a stress test?

I have been using a Yozuri hybrid flourocarbon line for leaders and it seems to be holding up well. Granted I do not do near the fishing most of the guys here at CF do but so far no complaints and it is not very expensive.

step up to a better flouro line like Seaguar. Since yours was free, I’d say you got your monies worth.

A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.

Vanish does pretty well but I prefer the Seaguar also.

I use any 10-20 lb leader I find.My fish require no special invisible line.

your fish? maybe your sheepshead need glasses  thinning the herd, always a good idea.

btw, 15lb braid usually breaks after 20lb seaguar in my experience. not knocking the fluoro, just touting the braid.

20 or 30 lb Mono for reds

Local Boy, Just having fun.

I picked up some 20 lb vanish at wally world, only one spool left, no yozuri or seagaur. I’ll try some of each and report back.
